You can expect a highly qualitative, exciting and comprehensive scientific program in one of the most historical and beautiful places in Europe.
Vienna, Austria’s capital, is a city renowned for its rich cultural, historical, and scientific heritage. Known as the “City of Music,” Vienna has been home to legendary composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss, whose legacies permeate its grand concert halls, opera houses, and music festivals. The Vienna State Opera and Musikverein are iconic landmarks where classical music thrives, and the city’s annual New Year’s Concert is a globally celebrated event.
Historically, Vienna holds a unique position as the former seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, leaving behind a wealth of imperial architecture. The Hofburg Palace, Schönbrunn Palace, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral showcase its grandeur, while the city’s baroque and gothic styles provide a journey through time. Vienna’s museums, including the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Albertina, house collections that reflect its imperial past and artistic prominence. The city was home to Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, and it played a leading role in the advancement of medical and surgical techniques. One of the most pioneering figures in surgery, Theodor Billroth, worked in Vienna during the 19th century. Known as the “father of modern abdominal surgery,” Billroth performed the first successful gastrectomy, laying the groundwork for modern gastrointestinal surgery. His work transformed Vienna General Hospital into a global center of surgical innovation and established standards that would shape surgical practices worldwide.
Today, Vienna stands as a thriving hub for scientific research and innovation, particularly in fields like biotechnology, environmental science, and medicine. Home to renowned institutions such as the Medical University of Vienna and IST Austria, the city fosters groundbreaking research in genetics, quantum technology, and sustainable urban development, maintaining its scientific legacy.
Austria also has a distinguished history in pediatric urology and pediatric surgery, rooted in pioneering approaches to child health. Today, Austria’s commitment to pediatric urology is highlighted by two JCPU-accredited training centers in Linz and Vienna.
On behalf of all pediatric urologists in Austria, we proudly and boldly promise a trailblazing, mind-blowing experience in one of the most beautiful places and cordially invite you join this historical event!
